Guard Your Heart The breastplate is an armor that the soldiers wear to protect the chest region and of course we know that is where the heart is. As soldiers of Christ, we must always have our spiritual breastplate on, we must guard our heart with all diligence in obedience to God's word. Protect your gates, your eye and ear gates. It is what comes from the heart that defiles a man. Nevertheless, nothing enters the heart, but through the eyes and the ears. Corruption can only flow into your heart by what you see and what you hear. Be a good soldier by guarding your gates, by the help of the Spirit, determine what goes in, what stays in and what goes out. Whatever a man will become in life is first established in his heart. What will keep him from fulfilling purpose must also first find a foothold in his heart. You can't draw the line between discipline and being hospitable. Haba! So many times we wished we never said so much about ourselves to certain people because we are now getting to know who they are and what they are capable of. We are now taking time to observe after vomiting more than necessary, putting the horse before the cart. See, no matter what you have heard about someone, don't be pushed to think they are sent to you, be discerning, be guided by the spirit of God. When you are meeting people for the first time, celebrities inclusive, be courteous, give honour to whom honour is due, but then, be alert in the spirit, see more and talk less, listen more. SILENCE, A POWERFUL TOOL It is not always compulsory you talk or contribute to a discussion when you are in the midst of elders, even when you are vast in knowledge in the area of the discussion. Always be sensitive to know when you are to keep quiet and listen, nodding in aknowledgement. It is not all the time that you must air your view concerning a matter. Sometimes, the opening of your mouth will portray foolishness rather than the wisdom you meant to pass accross. Those that have gone ahead of us may be stagnant in learning, but that does not outrightly rule out the traces of wisdom to walk a path. Anyone that has not shown you the right path to follow has at least shown you the path not to follow. Anyways, learning took place. Manytimes, you are listening to a wrong advice just nodding, just at that point, the Holyspirit is opening your eyes to see deeper than the advicer.
