WHEN A SERVANT OF GOD IS NOT DISCIPLINED WITH FOOD, HIS VALUE REDUCES BY ADEDIRE ADEKANBI
I call discipline putting yourself under constraints, better put, restraining yourself. Paul said, all things are lawful but not all things are expedient. This line is also for you oh thou servant of God.
When you are not disciplined you loose touch with relevance and impact, and you become a common man to everyone.
When you are seen every, just because of your insatiable appetite for everything that comes your way your value reduces gradually.
For some it is food, just that four letter word FOOD. They can do anything and sacrifice anything for food. Some may even get to the ground of ministration, they are mounting the pulpit in the next 15 minutes, but will still try and rush the food prepared for them within 15minutes, they can’t just wait. Why didn’t they eat from home if they are that hungry.
Some become so full, that anointing will not border to flow. Something struck me in book of Genesis 24: 33. Abraham sent his eldest servant in the name of the lord to his hometown to get a wife for Isaac.
When the servant got to the house of Rebecca, he said something that would bring honor to any man. Verse 33 says, “And there was set meat before him to eat: but he said, I will not eat, until I have told mine errand. And he said, Speak on.
What a discipline! He didn’t place food before his assignment, very spiritual. Just imagining the type of food that was placed before him. I know they would have gone extra mile to welcome him. Besides, if we read that chapter well, we would realize that Rebecca wasn’t from a poor or struggling home. Oh! The assorted meat and all that.
But this servant esteemed his God given assignment above food and every other temporary enjoyment. He chose to deliver the message first, and I believe that act of discipline increased his worth in the heart of his host and put more value on his message.
Servant of God, do not let food rid you of relevance and impact!
