DON'T JUST DO GOOD, BE CONSISTENT!

Doing good can be so frustrating, most especially in this world where you see the wicked rising and the just suffering, when people you helped when they were down turn around to let you down when you needed them most, when in an attempt to help you were blackmailed. Doing may seem dangerous when people you helped with the last kobo In your pocket get to position of authority and never remember you.

I saw something in the book of Galatians 6:9, “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up” NIV.

Now, see this, there is a ‘PROPER TIME' of harvest for us. In most cases, our reward does not come through the same channel we labored. Our help most of the time is not in the hands of those we helped. Often we keep our eyes and heart glued to them that when nothing is coming forth, we become weary and tired of doing good. Some at this junction give up and the reward may not come eventually, which makes it appear they labored in vain.

It happens this way sometimes in order to check us. God doesn’t even want us to look up to man in the first instance, but to Him. Don’t forget that the Chief Cup bearer remembered Joseph at the appointed time, after two full years. God is not a fool, He knows what He is doing.

NB: Joseph did not give up because he wasn’t remembered as promised. Maybe, it wouldn’t have resulted in Joseph’s lifting if he had remembered him immediately. But God who make all things beautiful in His time reminded the Cup bearer of Joseph just at the time he was needed.

The ending part of Gal 6:9 says, ‘ for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up'.
There is tendency to give up, but only those who do not give up will receive/ reap the harvest that consistency in doing good brings.

“Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers”. Gal 6:10.
