YOU CAN’T LOVE WITHOUT EXPERIENCING LOVE

Just wondering the kind of confidence with which Peter assured Jesus of his love for Him no matter the circumstance. He was so sure of himself. 

Peter answered and said to Him, “Even if all are made to stumble because of You, I will never be made to stumble.”
Jesus said to him, “Assuredly, I say to you that this night, before the rooster crows, you will deny Me three times.”
Peter said to Him, “Even if I have to die with You, I will not deny You!” And so said all the disciples. Mathew 26:33-35

 A promise to continually love is weak in itself without the help of the Holy Spirit. I believe Peter came in contact with this reality after encountering the Holy Spirit. Indeed it takes the Spirit of God to love unconditionally. And if you don’t love God unconditionally, you can never love any man unconditionally. For God is love!

Am always surprised when people who have not encountered Jesus promise to love another human forever. Am sorry, you can’t, you don’t have the capacity. The best of a man is still a man. It is the Holy Spirit who works it out in a man. 

Don’t feel bad that you couldn’t keep that promise to love, you only need to encounter a personality, He is Jesus. In Him is life and the life is the light of all men, when His life finds expression in you by the Spirit, His love will find expression through you.

After Peter encountered the Holy Spirit, His life meant nothing to Him again, He gave it all completely. The love of God is shared abroad in our heart by the Holy Ghost.
